Bakit Ako Tumatakbo

Laban sa payo ng kanyang sariling pamilya at mga matatalik na kaibigan, buong tapang na umuwi ng Pilipinas ang aking amang si Ninoy Aquino, 24 na taon na ang nakararaan. Hinarap niya ang banta ng asasinasyon para tumulong na wakasan ang krisis pang-politika at ekonomiya sa bansa na lalo pang gumigipit at nagpapahirap sa ating mga kababayan. Bumalik siya ng Pilipinas upang labanan ang diktadurya na lumapastangan sa ating demokrasya. Nagwasak sa mga institusyon ng pamahalaan na pumapabor lamang sa iilang tao kapalit ng paghihirap ng ating mga nakararaming kababayan.

Subalit ang nakalulunos na pagkamatay ng aking ama ay hindi nauwi sa wala. Pinatunayan ng ating mga kababayan ang paniniwala ng aking ama na “The Filipino is worth dying for” sa pamamagitan ng pagbangon mula sa pagkakahimlay na isinakatuparan sa pamamagitan ng People’s Power revolution.

Ipinasa sa aking ina ang pamamahala, na atubiling-atubili, subalit nang maihanda na niya ang kanyang isipan , kalooban at damdamin para dito, malugod na tinanggap ang hamon upang tuluyang lansagin ang rehimeng Marcos. Pinangunahan niya ang bansa upang maibalik at maitatag muli ang demokrasya sa ilalim ng kanyang administrasyon at mapayapang nailipat ang kapangyarihan sa halal ng taong pumalit sa kanya pagkatapos ng kanyang termino.

Ako ay tumatayo ngayon sa inyong harapan na determinadong ipagpatuloy ang mga layunin ng aking mga magulang. Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalakas sa mga institusyon ng pamahalaan upang pagsilbihan ang interes ng ating mga kababayan. Kailangan tayong magkaisa at magsama-sama upang muling bigyan ng pagkakaton ang demokrasya para matamo ang ating mga layunin.

Kaya naman bilang Senador, makatitiyak kayo na gagawin ko ang mga sumusunod:

1. Pagtitibayin ang kasarinlan ng Senado bilang isa sa pangunahing institusyon sa ating nanganganib na demokrasya;
2. Patuloy na papananagutin ang gobyerno sa mga maling hakbangin nito.
3. Tutulan ang Charter Change kung ito ay gagawin hindi sa tamang panahon, wastong proseso at tamang rason;
4. Hindi aayon sa anumang tangka upang muli ay magkaroon ng mapanupil na gobyerno sa bansa; and,
5. Maging tinig ng mga inaapi sa lipunan.

With presidential wannabes are declaring their intention to run on the road towards the presidency, a slim chance over these candidates as against of NOYNOY is evident. Noynoy is different. He declared not because of his intention or his greediness in power. Yet, he declared in accordance with the peoples’ call for the revival of the Philippines from so much decay from unquestioned political disunity and opportunism. Noynoy symbolizes for hope and renewal. The Filipinos are ready to contribute whatever they could just to catapult Noynoy into the presidency. This is now the time calling for a genuine change from the present leadership. Go Pinoy! Go Noynoy! God is with us.
